How to Request Allergy-Friendly Options at Disney World
If you have food allergies, it is important to let Disney World know in advance so that they can accommodate your needs. You can do this by contacting Disney World directly or by mentioning your allergies when making a reservation at a restaurant.
You can also request allergy-friendly options when ordering food at a restaurant by speaking with a member of the restaurant staff. When communicating your allergy needs to Disney World staff, it is important to be specific about your allergies and any dietary restrictions you may have. This will help them to better understand your needs and ensure that you are provided with safe and appropriate dining options.
You can also find allergy friendly options on the My Disney Experience App if you choose to mobile order. The only challenge here is if you have multiple allergies like my family. We have allergies to gluten and dairy and while you can click on the allergy friendly foods for each category individually, you can’t chose more than one. Sometimes that isn’t an issue because the options are already gluten or dairy free but you have to really read the descriptions. If you don’t see what you need in the mobile app you can always order directly with a cast member.
It is also a good idea to carry a card or note with you that explains your allergies in detail. This can be especially helpful if you are traveling internationally and there may be language barriers or cultural differences to consider. By having this information readily available, you can more easily communicate your needs to restaurant staff and help to ensure that your allergies are taken.
When you order with food allergies the cast members will ask some questions to make sure your needs are met and the right attention is given to your needs. If you have severe allergies they will prepare everything in a separate kitchen space to ensure there is no cross contamination, if it is not that severe they will ask if cross contamination is an issue and go from there.

If you don’t see what you or your child would like to eat that accommodates your allergies, always ask! Years ago my son wanted pizza but they did not have an option that was gluten and dairy free, we asked the cast member when we placed our order and wouldn’t you know it they made him one! This was just at a quick service restaurant on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood Studios and they were so sweet and great to us.

You can do this by contacting Disney World directly or by mentioning your allergies when making a reservation at a restaurant. You can also request allergy-friendly options when ordering food at a restaurant by speaking with a member of the restaurant staff. Even if you forget to add the allergy into your reservation your waiter will always ask if there are any allergies when they first come to your table. Once you have let them know your allergies they typically have a manager or chef come out and talk to you to make sure your needs are met appropriately. You can even get allergy friendly Mickey Waffles at most locations that serve the regular ones!!
Every Disney World quick and table service location has an allergy menu. All you have to do is ask a cast member if you want to look at a hard copy of the menu. It will also be available on the My Disney Experience app where you can do a mobile order if what you need is accommodated there, otherwise just order with a cast member. When your food comes out, your allergy friendly items will have a little stick in them so cast members know to keep it separated from allergens at the location and so you know that it was prepared correctly.
Looking at the menus for different locations before your trip is always a great idea. This will enable you to know what to expect and where you can fin things that sound especially good to you. Always check the seasonal treats too because they often have lots of allergy friendly options for even those instagramable treats.

Even during the regular festivals and celebrations going on in the parks there are allergy friendly options offered! If you are attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and the regular;ar candy offered is not something you can eat, no problem! They have allergy friendly treats as well all throughout the park!
I even enjoyed a delicious gluten and dairy free gingerbread shingle from the giant gingerbread house at The Grand Floridian this year. Epcot festivals are great for this too! We have found lots of gluten and dairy free options there as well as tons of plant based options throughout the festival booths. A lot of the menus will even tell you that something can be made allergy friendly without a sauce or side as well.
Can I bring my own food into the parks?
Disney World does allow guests to bring their own food into the parks, but it must be for personal consumption and cannot be sold. Just like any other quick or table service food option on Disney property, you can request accommodation for just about any dietary need or food allergy you may have. As I said above, we even got allergy friendly gingerbread cookies at The Grand Floridian gingerbread house this Christmas.
As you can see, there are TONS of options for those of us with food allergies or special dietary needs and you can find them all over Disney property. Every location you go to, with the exception of some of the smaller snack stands will be able to accommodate your needs in some way. Disney really does a good job of not making the allergy friendly foods bland or boring as well, they are just as magical as the rest of the menu! Sometimes these experiences can be even more magical!
Our first trip to Disney after my son’s Crohn’s diagnosis we were worried about him having to order special foods but our first table service meal was nothing short of magical. We ate at Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom on our first night and the chef came out and sat right down next to him, asked him what he wanted and brought it out to him on a silver platter! He felt so special and it made us feel so good that he could get what he needed without feeling like he was missing out on something.
It is super important to plan ahead and communicate your needs with Disney. Making sure you can clearly communicate what you need and knowing how to ask for what you want is key here. Disney will go above and beyond to make sure your food allergies are taken care of but only if they can fully understand your needs. Do your homework and look at the menus so you know where you might want to eat, or if it’s a table service reservation look to make sure they have options you will enjoy.
All in all I really can’t say enough good things about our experiences eating out at Disney with food allergies. They really do try to make sure you get what you want, need and feel as though you are being taken care of. I encourage you all to not feel afraid to eat at Disney with food allergies, there are so many options and they do such a great job making them delicious. Even if you don’t have food allergies or special dietary needs, I encourage you to try some of these options, it’s a great way to try something new and you won’t regret it!
