Earlier this year Ample Hills Creamery located at the Boardwalk resort filed for bankruptcy.
They had plans to open another location at Disney Springs, but with the shutdown, it was uncertain what would happen to both locations. The Disney Springs location still says “Coming Soon” and the Boardwalk location says “Temporarily Unavailable” however it now seems that the Boardwalk location will not reopen and the Disney Springs location will not open either.
Per Ample Hills spokesperson:
“Prior to the acquisition, the Disney agreement with Ample Hills creamery ended (back in January). As a result, Ample Hills will close at Disney’s BoardWalk and the proposed Ample Hills location at Disney Springs will not open later this year.”
This will be sad news for many fans of their ice cream. The location at the Boardwalk which opened in 2016 was a fan favorite with many people going out of their way to get what some called the best ice cream on Disney property. In fact, our friend Nate from Paging Mr. Morrow made a video about the place, stating that it was not only the best ice cream on Disney property but “the best ice cream in the world”.
