With Sunday’s big game kicking off just down the road in Tampa, Disney, like many others, is gearing up for the excitement of Super Bowl weekend. Disney has just announced that the annual Super Bowl MVP parade through the Magic Kingdom will not take place this year.
The tradition of having the MVP film a quick “I’m going to Disney World!” commercial will take place after this Sunday’s big game, and will be aired that evening. We have heard a rumor that the MVP will still be going to WDW but without the fan-fair.
This year’s commercial will be the latest installment in a long-running Super Bowl tradition created by Disney in 1987 when that year’s MVP, New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms, first appeared in the commercial following the team’s Super Bowl victory.
