Best Disney Resort for Larger Families on a Budget

Disney resort

If you have a larger family like mine you may find picking the perfect Disney resort a bit tricky. Most hotel rooms are designed for a family of up to four. Unless you want to stay deluxe you will need to book additional rooms and hope you can get them connecting. Its important to know that connecting rooms cannot be guaranteed only requested. This can pose a bit of a problem if you have say 3 small children. There is simply no way to know until you arrive and check in at your resort destination what your room placement will be.

All-Star Family Suites

One way to avoid this is to book a room for up to 6 people. If you are a larger family you may not have the budget for a larger deluxe resort. What to do? Consider staying at All-Star Music’s Family Suites. These family suites are newly refurbished and budget friendly!

Plenty of Sleeping Space

All Star’s Family Suites include 1 queen bed and 2 queen pull-down beds. You also get 2 full bathrooms which can be a huge perk when you have a larger family. If you have teenage girls you will really understand what I’m talking about.

The family suites also offer a kitchenette with an apartment sized refrigerator and freezer. You also have a sink, coffee maker, and microwave. I cant tell you how much we really loved having the ability to fix up food in our room at different times. In fact we were there for 2 weeks after a hurricane rolled through and we lost power. We really had to put the function of the suites to the test. For us it provided everything we needed to function and just enough space that we didn’t drive each other too crazy.

Kitchenette

I also love all the extra storage in the kitchenette. Plenty of room to stash snacks for the kids, bottled waters, little boxes of cereal, etc.. Of course if you don’t feel like cooking you can always hop over to Intermission Food Court to grab those Mickey Waffles!

Having two separate rooms for sleeping is great. The master bedroom even features a 55-inch tv with a door that closes. The family suite is a total of 520 square feet overall.

Refurbished New Look

If you have stayed at the All Star Family Suites in the past you will be quite surprised by how much the new suites have upgraded. Carpet has been replaced by a more attractive and sanitary wood look flooring. Gone are the dingy pull out sofas. Pull down beds offer a much more comfortable option. The finishes are new and fresh. The designs whimsical and very Disney. I LOVE the artwork of Huey, Dewey, and Louie over the pull down beds! This Disney Resort has seriously upgraded!

Sleeping Space Converts to Living Space

These newly refurbished suites are comfortable, clean, and roomy. When the pull down beds are put up for the day you have a table with 4 chairs and a sofa with a ottoman. Genius!

Other Great Disney Resorts for Large Families

Two other honorable Disney Resort mentions go to Art of Animation and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness Campground.

Art of Animation has adorable Cars-themed Family Suites. They are a bit more expensive than the All-Star Suites but a great choice for larger families as well. You cant beat the theming here!

The cabins at Fort Wilderness Campground can be quite pricey, especially if you want to add on a golf cart rental. While these cabins are not budget-friendly we love the atmosphere and it’s one of our favorite Disney Resorts that we continually return to stay, even as locals!
