Disney has always been a figure for magic and imagination since it’s creation in 1923. Walt Disney initially created the company after his success with the Mickey Mouse animated cartoon. He envisioned Disneyland to be an amusement park based around his popular characters.

His theme park did not open until 1955, however, due to several obstacles including financial issues and high demand for labor during World War II. After opening Disneyland in California, he began construction on another location near Orlando, Florida due to its high amount of tourists throughout the year.

This park was entirely based around technology and showcased a community filled with futuristic inventions. After Walt Disney died from lung cancer at the age of 65 he never saw EPCOT grow from concept to reality. His brother Roy took over the project he passed away and thought this park would be a perfect example of Walt’s vision.
