Disney Parks is celebrating “Halfway to Halloween” and with that lots of exciting news has been dropping! The biggest and most exciting announcement has been the return of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! A scaled-down “Boo Bash” version was available during the pandemic but guests are overjoyed to finally welcome the return of one of the most popular special ticketed events at Magic Kingdom.
I know my daughter and I will be going! I may have to drag my husband too. MNSSHP is my favorite event of the year!
New to this years MNSSHP
For those of you that are familiar with Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party (often referred to as MNSSHP) You might be interested in knowing what new things are being added to this years party.
In honor of Disney World 50th Anniversary guests attending MNSSHP will receive an exclusive Halloween-themed celebration commemorative print. In addition each guest will be given a reusable trick-or-treat bag. Also new this year will be several MNSSHP exclusive step-in photo opportunities.
You will be happy to know that everything you loved about MNSSHP is set to return also.
Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular
Jack Skellington hosts Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular. This fireworks show is complete with castle projections, a spooky soundtrack, lighting effects, and Halloween-themed fireworks. Many guests will tell you this is one of their favorite Disney fireworks shows.
Great Photo Opportunities
During this event, you get a chance like no other to take pictures inside Magic Kingdom while in costume. Going as a gang of pirates? You will find perfect backdrops in Adventureland. Always wanted to be a princess? Now you can be dressed as a princess outside Cinderella’s Castle. How cool would it be to meet Maleficent if you were dressed as Aurora?
Boo To You Halloween Parade
The Boo To You Halloween Parade is not to be missed. You get to see your favorite characters in their Halloween attire. The Grave Diggers and dancing ghosts from the Haunted Mansion are very impressive. No matter what be sure to be in place before the parade begins and you may get to catch a glimpse of the Headless Horseman. I get chills every time I see him. It’s the highlight of the parade for me.
Trick or treat trails are back as well. Make sure you pick up your re-usable Halloween candy bag at the front to gather all your goodies. You can bring your own as well of course! Those bags can get quite full! Best of all candy is included in your ticket admission! The trick-or-treat trails will be marked on the guide map. You can grab one when entering the park.
Above is a sample of our stash from previous years. They really do hand out the good stuff! This years main sponsors are M&M’s, Skittles, and Snickers. You can expect to see many different popular brands though.
TIP- If you have food allergies be sure to stop by guest services to inquire about special treats for those with dietary restrictions. As the party gets closer be sure to check back and I will have a post up detailing safe options for guests with restrictions.
The ride overlays are back as well. Pirates added in live actors, Mad Tea Party added in fun lights and music, and Space Mountain has a new spooky soundtrack. Monsters Inc is getting in on the action too. Remember they scare because they care! You never know who might pop in.
Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular
The Sanderson sisters are up to no good and they brought along a group of friends to join in the mayhem. You can expect villains like Maleficent and many more to crash the party. This takes place on Cinderella’s Castle Stage and there are several showtimes available to choose from.
The party always features special treats that you can only get during the special ticketed event. They will be marked on your guide map. They have some really cute desserts every year. The frozen apple cider from The Golden Oak Outpost was a big hit and perfect on a hot night.
MNSSHP Exclusive Event Merchandise
Every MNSSHP exclusive merchandise comes out and everything from special pins to t-shirts is on sale and available only during the party. You will not be able to purchase those items during a normal park day so if you see anything you like be sure to pick it up!
You cant have a party without a little dancing. You might have a little bit of that sugar rush to burn off. Fun upbeat music, lighting effects and even some of your favorite characters may make an appearance.
This party has been a tradition for my daughter and I for years. Did I mention you can dress up? No other time of the year can adults get to dress up and take pictures inside Magic Kingdom. Half the excitement is just planning our costumes every year. One year my daughter went as Kairi from the Kingdom Hearts video game and I went as Esmerelda. We had so much fun planning our costumes that we are already planning what we want to do this year! Its never to early to start.
There is something so exciting about stepping into Magic Kingdom as it’s getting dark and the party is kicking off. Pumpkins lit up everywhere, scarecrow pumpkins decorating the entrance, fall leaves and Mickey wreaths on the lamp posts put me in that Halloween mood. Music plays and fog rolls by on occasion and you just feel the magic Disney is so good at creating.
If you want to check out the party this year you should know it starts early but prices go up as Halloween gets closer. Special rates are available for DVC, Annual Passholders, Military, and Cast members on select dates only.
Tickets go on sale for resort guests starting May 12th. For guests without resort stays booked tickets will be available starting May 18th. Halloween night tends to sell out very quickly.

Here are some of my favorite things to bring on my WDW Travels!
Thank you for reading this article. I hope you found it helpful as you plan your magical vacation. Here are some things that I used on my own magical trips and I hope you’ll also find them helpful as well.
These are affiliate links, so if you do decide to use any of them, I’ll earn a commission. But in all honesty, these are the exact items that I use and recommend to everyone, even my own family.
General Carry Items: These are probably some of the most important things that everyone should have with them at Disney World.
A Good Pair of Disney Sunglasses – (I use this cheap pair all the time)
Every Day Chapstick – (I always have this on me anyway)
Sunscreen – (This is my Every Day Carry Sunscreen Ladies)
Park Bag: I’ve seen lots of people go to Disney World and make the simple mistake of not coming prepared. You can pick up a nice Loungefly park bag like this one and save the day for your family.
A Good Pair Of Sandals: Ladies, there’s nothing like a good pair of sandals like these in the parks. That way when it rains and your feet get wet you aren’t stuck walking around in a wet pair of sneakers all day.
Portable Neck Fans: These are just the most amazing little invention that you NEED to have at least for the kiddos. They charge via USB and are highly recommended, especially if you are going in the summer heat. You can check them out over here on Amazon.
Planning Your Trip: I know that planning a trip can be a lot. If you want more help planning your next trip I 100% recommend using The Vacationeer as a travel agent. They go above and beyond for their clients and they are the only ones that I can say that I would trust to plan my family’s travel.
Moving Near Disney!?: Well, we did! And we could not have done it without the help of our Realtor Victor Nawrocki! Victor knows the area and all the little ins and outs that no one else will tell you. He’s not just here to sell you a house, he wants you to actually enjoy living here! If you want to talk with an EXPERT about living near Disney World then I highly suggest you give Victor a call today at 407-340-9375 or check out all his links at disneyatyourdoorstep.com. Make sure you let him know that WDW Travels sent you!
